Michael Mitchell, Director and Principal at Elysium EPL, will present on the role of Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs) in addressing grey-zone maritime threats as part of The Hub at Indo Pacific.
As Australia faces a deteriorating strategic environment in the Indo-Pacific, USVs offer a scalable, persistent and low-risk solution for domain awareness and security.
Drawing on case studies and mission vignettes, Mr Mitchell will highlight how government–industry collaboration and the adoption of autonomous, dual-use technologies can strengthen Australia’s northern maritime capability. Global examples, including NATO’s REPMUS exercise and the U.S. Navy’s Task Force 59, underscore the urgency of this capability.
Attendees will gain practical insights into how USVs can deliver persistent presence, sharper decision-making and enhanced deterrence.
