POTENTIAL OF BIO-MANUFACTURING FOR MARITIME CAPABILITY

Craig Rogers, Director of the SABRE Alliance, DST Group, will lead a panel discussion in The Hub on the transformative role of biomanufacturing in strengthening Australia’s maritime capability.

From developing vaccines and therapeutics to counter emerging biological threats, to producing advanced resources such as biofuels that reduce reliance on imported fossil fuels, biomanufacturing offers opportunities for greater self-sufficiency, operational resilience and sustainability at sea.

At the same time, these advances raise challenges – from complex supply chains and infrastructure dependencies to regulatory and security risks. This session will examine both the opportunities and vulnerabilities, and outline strategies to ensure biomanufacturing is integrated safely and effectively into Australia’s naval future.
