Saab has been contracted to deliver an additional AUV62-AT autonomous anti-submarine warfare (ASW) training target to the Royal Australian Navy, further strengthening Australia’s ASW training capabilities.
The AUV62-AT is a highly advanced autonomous underwater vehicle that can simulate a submarine, torpedo, or uncrewed system, providing realistic, flexible and cost-effective training. Already in use by navies around the world, the system reduces reliance on live submarines, enabling longer and more intensive training programs.
With the ability to be launched and recovered from both ship and shore, and with programs tailored to operational demands, the AUV62-AT enhances combat preparedness across surface, air, and sub-surface assets.
Saab Australia Managing Director, Andy Keough CSC, said:
“The AUV62-AT is part of Saab’s extensive range of technology-enabled training solutions designed to provide realistic scenarios to enhance combat skills and preparedness.”
This investment demonstrates Australia’s commitment to advancing training solutions that build operational readiness and resilience.
